Raja Puan Muda Kedah Sends Borenos Surprise to Dr Moventhiran

Raja Puan Muda Kedah Celebrates Inspiring Neurosurgeon Dr Moventhiran with Borenos

Raja Puan Muda Kedah Sends Borenos Surprise to Dr Moventhiran

Sometimes a story does more than inspire. It moves people to act.

Recently, DYTM Che Puan Muda Zaheeda, the Raja Puan Muda of Kedah, arranged for a special Borenos meal to be delivered personally to a Malaysian neurosurgeon after being inspired by his life story. The gesture recognised a remarkable journey from humble beginnings in Kuala Kedah to becoming the Head of the Neurosurgery Unit at Hospital Tengku Ampuan Rahimah in Klang.

The surgeon was Dr Moventhiran Ramakrishnan, whose journey from hardship to medical leadership was recently highlighted in The Star

Dr Moventhiran’s story begins in Kuala Kedah, where his family lived on a modest income. His father worked as a lorry driver while his mother supported the household through two jobs.

Despite these challenges, he remained focused on his education. Through determination and hard work, he achieved excellent academic results and pursued a career in medicine. Today, he serves as the Head of the Neurosurgery Unit at Hospital Tengku Ampuan Rahimah in Klang.

For Che Puan Muda Zaheeda, the story left a deep impression.

“I first came across Dr Moventhiran’s story through a news article, and I was deeply moved by his determination,” she shared.

“Despite very humble beginnings and working as a scrap metal labourer to support himself, he remained focused on his education and eventually became a neurosurgeon.”

Recognising a Remarkable Journey

While many readers may feel inspired by stories like this, Che Puan Muda Zaheeda felt his journey deserved to be acknowledged.

“I felt his journey deserved to be recognised,” she explained. “Stories like his remind us that with perseverance and hard work, it is possible to overcome many challenges, and I thought it would be nice to acknowledge that with a small gesture.”

One particular detail from the article stood out to her.

Dr Moventhiran shared that during his childhood, fried chicken was a rare reward his parents would buy for him when he came first in class.

“That detail really touched me because it showed how something very simple meant so much to him growing up,” she said.

“It reflected the effort he put into his studies and how meaningful those small rewards were at the time.”

Inspired by this memory, Che Puan Muda Zaheeda decided to send him a surprise that celebrated both his journey and his achievements.

Why Borenos

For the gesture, she chose Borenos, a locally owned Malaysian fried chicken brand that originated in Sabah.

Che Puan Muda Zaheeda shared that Borenos was first introduced to her by the Tunku Mahkota Kedah and quickly became a favourite within the family.

“Since he mentioned fried chicken as a childhood reward, I thought it would be a nice and meaningful way to celebrate his achievement,” she said.

“The Tunku Mahkota Kedah introduced me to Borenos some time ago, and it has since become one of our family’s favourite fried chicken meals. We genuinely enjoy it, and I thought it would be lovely to share that joy with him as well.”

Adding a Personal Touch

Che Puan Muda Zaheeda also requested that the Borenos team deliver the meal personally rather than sending it through a third-party delivery platform.

“I felt that having the team deliver it personally would make the gesture more sincere and memorable,” she explained.

“It adds a human touch rather than it simply being something sent without connection.”

With this request, the moment became more than just a food delivery. It became a meaningful way to recognise a journey defined by resilience and determination.

For Borenos, it was an honour to assist in delivering this thoughtful gesture from DYTM Che Puan Muda Zaheeda and to celebrate Dr Moventhiran’s inspiring journey.

A Story That Inspires

For Che Puan Muda Zaheeda, Dr Moventhiran’s story is a reminder that determination and education can change the course of a person’s life.

“I feel especially proud of Dr Moventhiran’s journey,” she said.

“His story shows that one’s background does not define one’s future. With perseverance, discipline and a strong commitment to education, it is possible to overcome great challenges and achieve one’s dreams.”

She hopes his story will encourage other young Malaysians to believe in themselves.

“I hope his journey will inspire many young Malaysians, especially those from Kedah, to believe in what they can achieve.”
